So we have a faulty HDD. I phone the local support number and it was transferred to some guy in Ireland, who can barely speak English (and its his home language). Now, I don't know about other people, but I hate it that companies do that that. Out source their after hours support to over seas people, it just doesn't feel right to me.
In this case, it was a big International PC Hardware company (not gonna name them), it was their own support center, but just not in my country. Now I need a HDD now (Enerprise support with SLA), hope he knows who to contact to send it to me within 4hours.

If it's who I think it is, their response to my issues has always been extremely rapid. You should get either a drive couriered to you or a local engineer getting hold of you to come and install it.

Ja, they usually respond very quickly, no problem there. But its such a schlep talking to this guy from Ireland. The call took 35 minutes and some seconds. We struggled to understand each other. Why they close their local service desk on public holidays, after hours and weekends, thats what I want to know?

Because it's cheaper to hand it off to Ireland than pay someone double-time for mostly sitting around on the public holiday and doing nothing unless a call comes in from some other poor sod working the public holiday?
