Overcharged

Who setup your system?
Sorry, I bought a contract and plugged the router in. I have now paid off the contract and am considering buying one of those portable WiFi routers that takes foreign SIM cards (going to Europe) BUT I am an ignoramus about this stuff. Do you know if they work?

Don't go anywhere near Telkom! I have a wireless router from them for which I am supposed to be debited about R240 a month. This month I have had R900, R2340, R700 (approx numbers ... I can't login to check because WiFi is NOT WORKING). They say I bought data from them. I have never bought data and don't know how to and I have never bought data from a store. They insist I bought data. Every time I call they say a manager will call me and play the recording of my voice. Nobody has called. If I reverse the payments through my bank they say they will blacklist me. NOW WHAT????
What do I do now
So you saying those amounts are being debited off your account
if it was telkom they would have debited your account once off in one large amount.
Sounds like some one is using your debit or credit card?

If you've paid off the contract, you have a router. Or did you Cancel?

How do I cancel? I can't find anything. The woman in one Telkom store told me that not even she knows how to reach anyone in charge.

I was told to keep the router or sell it. To whom? I am so confused now that I can't remember who I was talking to. I believe there is a cancellation fee of over R800!

So you have a router, I suggest taking it to someone who is technically more proficient than yourself. That person can check on it what's happened. Ie did you leave the wifi open.

Download the Telkom app and login to your account.

Set your spend limit to R50.

You can then see all contracts linked to your profile and how much was billed to the account. Telkom allows you to topup by adding the recharge to your bill which will come off your spend limit or enter your card details to pay via debit or credit card only for that topup.

Thank you. I shall have to ask around. My friends are all as ignorant about this as I am!

Your mistake was ever to do ANY business with TelSCUM. Avoid them like the plague. Cancel the debit order and let them blacklist you. Who cares?

I did. I have no credit anywhere for anything unless debit orders count?
And FYI: I have two MA degrees and my hair is a mess and I know nothing about tech stuff. Big mistake...Huge!

Cancelled! (I hope). I have never had a monthly contract before and should have known better. I cancelled the debit order AND the overcharge amounts at my bank AND paid up the contract in full but they told me I still have to go in one month before the contract ends to cancel properly. I shall be in the US by then so...a letter? Let them sue me, I don't care. NEVER AGAIN. I really should not be allowed out on my own! I am from New York for goodness sake! Supposedly "street wise". This never happened to me there.

The router now belongs to you, just change simcard according to where you are and which network you want to use.
