Hello there. I have overclocked my Q9450 @ 2.66GHz to 3.4GHz. My temps are 30 idle and 35 - 38 on load. should I overclock it more. heres my pc specs.

Cooler master CM690
MSI GTX280
MSI p45 platinum
Apacer ddrII 800MHz.
Q9450 with zalman CNPS 9700 cooler

my Vcore is currently @ 1.28 everything else is at auto. my ram is at 1:1 ratio so speed is 850MHz. I don't think the ram can take any more.

any help will be appreciated.

You could try and reach more, with those temps i don't see why not. Your pc should reset itself if something goes horribly wrong. What are you using to measure your temps.

I would advise though maybe getting 1066 memory, that ddr 2 800 will hold you back a bit i reckon. Maybe those apacer sticks can overclock well to maybe 900 or 950 but you won't know unless you push it :)

what are the temp I should stay away from? What are good temps for 24/7 usage.

Getting faster memory will definetly increase your overclocking ratio.

But 3.4ghz is a very good overclock. Read up on reviews from hardware sites and find out what the max speed they managed to get and then see from there. Dont go and blow up your pc, u might void your warranty

BTW I use speedfan and Realtemp to messure my temp. already googled it and people are reaching up to 3.8 even 4.0GHz on this processor.

They more than likely have better cooling, my 9550 i got to around 3.8 but the wife now uses it for real work so no more playing for me (3.4 24/7 use atm)
