Overdoing our blackness will not bring redress

Peterson issued his warning because he could see increasing numbers of black men and women who thought that being black was enough to qualify them for jobs they would not get otherwise.

We could, of course, be done with all this professional blackness nonsense and give all the professional blacks one name.

They could all just have one name, one résumé and one referee, the ANC.

In fact, I can think of a name that these professional blacks could each adopt as their first name: Blackman.

There are parts of southern Africa where Blackman is a common first name for boys. We could just adopt that here and be done with the whole charade of black men being on their own: Blackman Chuene.

Blackman Maroga. Blackman Malema. Blackman Komphela.
