I really don't know how to overclock my Intel CPU but I really need that extra power so my pc can run games like Warframe at higher resolutions. Yes I know there are tons of guides and setups but none have my pc rig and they are just too complicated for a guy like me to even begin to understand.

So my question is how do I overclock my CPU, my GPU was easy as I used MSI afterburner but my CPU didn't come with any program like this and many people say it shortens you CPU lifespand and some things about heat sync and bus rates, and so on and so on. Just trying to understand it gave me a headache.

So my specs are:

Sorry if this is too much info I don't know what would be needed to help me so I just copied everything from Speccy and pasted it:)

I'm not familiar with overclocking that cpu but I'm sure you'll find the answer on overclock.net

Ok, in your bios under CPU or OC settings you should be able to adjust the multiplier or the FSB for instance:

339.95 is your FSB and the other number is your multiplier.

339.95 X 6 = 2039.70MHZ -> Speed step technology

339.95 X 8 = 2660MHZ -> Full speed

Now this is how OC will work

If you can adjust the FSB

400 X 8 = 3200MHZ

420 X 8 = 3360MHZ

and so on.

If you can adjust the multiplier:

339.95 X 9 = 3059MHZ

339.95 X 12 = 3399MHZ (I would consider this the max on stock cooling)

Once done, download and run Prime 95 and stress for a few hours if temps are under 80 then its fine.

I recommend you reapply the thermal paste if its old (GPU and CPU)

Okay I don't know what is FSB or the multiplier but it seems that if I overclock I shouldn't go higher than 3.3GHZ which seems quite high considering its like .7GHZ higher.

I have prime95 but I don't know where to adjust the FSB and multiplier settings

In your BIOS

I rebooted my PC then tapped 'delete' to enter the BIOS menu. I had to go to I think it was advanced chip-set features or Foxconn control unit and I found my CPU clock thing at 333. I pushed it till 400 and pressed F10. A few seconds delay and a screen with American Megatrends appeared and at the bottom it said that current CPU something doesn't allow system system stability or something along those lines.
So I went back into the BIOS and pushed the amount from 333 to 360 but a few seconds later I got the same error.

Did I do something wrong or do I have to update my BIOS?

My bios is:
American Megatrends Inc. 080015, 2010/05/11

Should I upgrade or does anyone else use this also?

Edit: Just bumbped up the 333 value to around 336 or 337 and according to Speccy the cores are fluctuating and the fsb thing is 6.0. CPU Z also shows fluctuation.

I would say its time for an upgrade then.

Hahaha was thinking the same when I looked at your sig:D .

Update; I managed to overclock with Fox One but anything above 344Mhz and a DRAM frequency above 1101Mhz causes the PC to reboot with all settings set back to default. Also there is no option to adjust my FSB.

Dont touch DRAM settings, thats for your ram.

I used Fox one and if I increase cpu clock speed it automatically increases DRAM and vice versa. Anything above 344Mhz(DRAM 1101Mhz) and my PC reboots with a few seconds delay with all settings on CPU at default.

That FSB thing can't be changed. My computer seems to automatically change between 6x and 8x.
