Overseas bank account

My mother want to give me some Euros as a gift. The euros is currently in a European bank account. I would prefer to keep the money overseas, and not to transfer it to my South African bank account. I do have a Neteller account but they require that you fund the account from a account which is in your own name, so it is not an option.

I also have a Bitstamp account for my bitcoins, but they have the same requirement that you must fund the account from a bank account in your name.

Does anybody have any suggestions how I can have a overseas account which I can fund from my mothers account

Sends you money via Skrill.

You send money from Skrill to Neteller.

You could try Payoneer, Revolut or GoldMoney, but they might have similar security measures.

Seeing as you already use bitcoin though, why not get your mom to create her own wallet and buy bitcoins for the amount that she wants to gift to you, then transfer those bitcoins to your wallet?

I think Payoneer is going to work. I have applied for a new account. They are now reviewing my application and it will take a few days.

afaik, payoneer can only accept payments from companies (ie. not private deposits)

That said, its quite a nifty service - using it for just over a year already.

I'm with FNB and I have looked at their global accounts but they are very limited:

What funds may go into the account
From South Africa:
 Foreign Investment Allowance (R10m)
 Single Discretionary Allowance (R1m) for Investment Purposes.
From abroad:
 Funds previously invested abroad
 Income
 Salary earned abroad
 Rental income from property abroad
 Interest earned abroad
 Inheritance
