Overwatch

read the description on wikipedia,

thought its got to do with the enemies in HL2,:p you know the ones that look like nazis.....

but no looks like a flimsy game, like SC heroes of the storm....

That doesn't sound good  I've been waiting for the release for so long. I should probably bum off of someone who bought it before buying it myself after the release then.

To be fair, it's not the sort of game that would really excite me in the first place. I'm sure it will appeal to the audience at which it's aimed. I have no actual criticism of the game itself, which in terms of presentation and gameplay looks great.

I've started that Friday night, the night beta was opened, at about 10 PM.
Played until 7 AM on Saturday, took a break until 9 AM,
played till 1 PM, slept until 6 PM, played until 10 PM and then I was satisfied.
I tried it again on Sunday for another 2 hours, and that was it.

Characters are very nice...
Environments are very interesting...
Latency/Ping is a bit on the terrible side...
but I was never a Team Fortress player and I will never be.

When the game is on sale so that the prices drops to about R100 I will try it again.

My kid plays Team Fortress and played the Overwatch beta and said that it is substantially better than TF. I personally never liked those games without any real end-goal. As far as I understood there are a ton of different characters but with pre-set weapons and only cosmetic upgrades.

Game is incredibly well made. Looks beautiful and runs very smoothly. Top notch netcode, too.

If you don't like team based shooters with MOBA elements then you probably won't like it.

Yeah, I loved the beta. The asking price is a bit steep though. I'll just hang on and get it when it's cheaper.

Well, the game has already gone competitive… now to see to its survival. Battleborn, Paragon and Gigantic to be the competition.

Dont worry about Copa, he just loves his RTS/RPG games, a little slower paced and more cerebral. ;)

Overwatch is really really good IMO. Not sure about playing it from SA, but honestly, from the UK it was utterly top notch. Never once did I shoot at someone and question why they did or didn't die. (Which many of the other shooters out there cause me to do plenty of times). Perhaps it has to do with the fast pace and style, who knows.

The characters are extremely varied, but surprisingly balanced. The fun aspect to it is that in other FPS games, someone with incredible skill could delete your entire team. In this though, no one character can do that, if their counter champ is on the other team. Everyone has a counter.

The characters that can exploit the verticallity of the maps, all do so in different ways. Once flies, one teleports, one dashes, one runs up walls, one has a grappling hook. These are all on varied cooldowns, so it is not a case of teleporting or dashing infinitely all the time. You have to decide when to use your skills.

I played every champ, and had fun with all of them. I am sorry that I spent so much time playing bots to test out the champs though. Playing PvP on Sunday was much more fun than vs bots. Anyone who said they were bored, may have only tried the bot games possibly?

No game will appeal to everyone, but if you ever liked quake, or Half-life mods, or any fast paced shooter that isn't trying to be all Hoorah 'Merican Army rules!, then Overwatch is the game for you.

Give it a play test first. I imagine that Blizz might dish out trial weekend passes or something after a short time into release. So perhaps wait for that to give it a try. If you have other blizz games, I imagine you might get some kind of test pass directly on your account at some point.
