OVHD on IS20

Feel really stupid. Bought an Ellies Decoder. After connecting it to an existing DSTV dish I got the prom channel, but it dropped after about 1 hour and could not get it back. Phoned Ellies and they said that I need a bigger dish (original was 60cm). So today bought a 80cm dish, installed and panned to perfection, but no signal on OVHD. So I phoned Ellies again. They said I should get an installer. Was on my way to connect the DSTV dish again when I found that I never connected the LNB cable to the decoder. :D

Which model is this? Saw kT at makro today and they said it just came in... View attachment 223534View attachment 223534

Paid R399 for mine last month at Game. I thought is was the Ellies one, seems I was mistaken. I only watch ASTV, the Afrikaans channel, from time to time. I actually don't know what got me to buy it, I'm not a tv watching person. Curious, maybe.
But ja, Met 'n bietjie Sous is kwai.

The one time when ASTV could still be picked up on the DSTV bouquet, they had this fishing program called Vaskap or something like that. So these guys go out on a boat and fish and during the episode, they catch absolutely nothing. The one presenter still says "Ja, party dae vang jy maar niks". That was my last impression of them :-)

So anything like discovery channel on ovhd?

Brought one, but checked online is there any half decent stuff of there besides al jazzera
And religious channels?

On the Altech decoders which Game currently sells on special, you do not have to adjust anything. Plug into LNB from DSTV dish, switch on, check signal strength and quality, activate as per manual with *120*6843*1#. Remember to provide 11 digit STB number without spaces.
PS no need to change anything in advanced setup! The current decoder can distinguish between the two satellites

Also having the same problem of no signal with the current Game decoder. DSTV works perfectly... Also no solution as well ;-(

Do a factory reset on your decoder if you aren't getting any signal on the DSTV dish. Worked for me.

So, if I'm reading this correctly all I need to do is buy the decoder and plug it in and I should get all the OVHD channels? I live in a complex that has a single DSTV dish for all the units. Also is there a specific decoder model that I need to get or is any currently available one fine?

Moved from Florida to Honeydew today. "Plug and play" the salesman at GAME told wifey when she bought the decoder. Lugged my DSTV dish (that I haven't used for about 6yrs since getting married) all the way with me...plugged...and...Hey presto! No play. And this after 4hrs of fiddling with the LNB and following all on-screen instructions.

Anything I can do short of getting an installer out?

Out of interest, solved the no signal problem on the R399 Game Openview decoder. Eventually got an installer out who adjusted the LNB and now working perfectly. Turns out the Openview is not very forgiving in terms of signal compared to DSTV (which was working).

I keep losing the channels on the DSD200, its a real PITA, and then I have to reset everything.

Also, the firmware on this is ancient, they are not really supporting this equipment.

Hi Guys,

Ok, have just had OVHD installed (IS20 direction) with an 80cm dish and an Altech produced decoder. I'm a total newb when it comes to satellite stuff but I know that people using dstv decoders have been able to put in codes or whatever to gain access to other channels on the satellite that you don't have to pay for / need a special decoder.

What is the process to do something like that with the OVHD decoder? Where do I navigate to on the unit / in the menu's and what on earth do I type in when I get there? .... I followed the link on earlier pages of this post to the satellite list ... but it rather confuses me!

Thanks in advance for the help!

You can't do it on that decoder...

Ok... so I found Gran's old dstv decoder (Dsd 1110 +2) in the back of a cupboard. It's tunable.... but 1) will it work without any DSTV subscription? and 2) whats the trick to get it to work?

Thanks!
