Hi guys

A friend of mine wants to know how this ovhd is. Can you guys give any sugestions to why to get it or not.

Thanks

Why to get it: no monthly charge
Why not : severely limited content

Me too, picked up the decoder on Sunday. Wanted to at least get some news and stuff without paying monochoice.

How bad are the channels?

SABC1,2,3, etv, eMovies+ and about 10-15 other channels of ***. Religious, educational, a motoring channel that I switched off as soon as I saw cellphone footage of "spinning".

eMovies + has some ok mini series and "made for tv" movies on,
The channels are about the same quality shows as the normal South African FTA tv.

Does anyone have an issue with aspect ratio on E channels. The movies that eMovies have are old movies, very low budget(probably cheaper to aquire for national rights broadcasting). The first month when they launched things were wonderful now days they have 5 repeats on eMovies a day alone.

More and more channels getting added weekly. Free-to-air channels will only be added to OpenView example they cannot add Discovery channels cause their license is for pay view.

They are busy installing mine today. Will let you guys know when it's up and running.

I was also wondering about this. I was also considering starsat, but I want HD content, so I guess I will stick with Internet tv for now. DSTV is way too expensive for what you get.

There was also talk about Spacetv releasing an OVHD decoder which some felt was a better decoder that the Ellies one. Any input on whether it has been released and what the advantages might be?

Ellies decoder is transponder locked wouldn't recommend purchasing it. After support from OpenView is crap. They refer you back to the channel operator.

SpaceTV ain't transponder locked.

transponder locked?

What does that mean? Also from previous threads, there was talk that spacetv would be releasing their decoder end November but I haven't seen anything yet.

That's what I'm asking.

Transponder locked means it will only operate on OpenView and you won't be able to add additional transponders(satellites operators) such as GlobeCast/ban. I am not sure if it is legal. I know routers/cellphones aren't suppose to be locked.

Those of you that do have OVHD,have you noticed how the aspect ratio changed to 4:3 constantly across EChannels in generally. Sometimes when watching eyes, blur corners happen
