Both PC Suite and Ovi Suite refuse to connect to Software Update server no matter what I try - even with my firewall fully disabled I get an error message saying "Unable to connect. Check firewall settings"
I have checked and searched and nowhere can I find any info on appropriate settings or what files I need to give access permissions to!
I am running Win 7 and BitDefender Internet Security 2010. Phones are Nokia E90 and 5800XpressMusic
Nokia software sucks!!!

Try reinstalling Ovisuite, did u update the programme? I.e. Latest version?

Try disabling internet connection sharing in the properties settings of the device that you use to connect to the internet then restart Software updater and connect. Should sort the problem out.

Nothing wrong with Nokia's software. I have Win7 running Microsoft Security Essentials and I have no issues. Bitdefender is your problem, it's absolute bloatware, worse than Norton and that's no understatement.

Remove Bitdefender, install Malwarebytes Antimalware, remove the malware on your computer and install MSE as above. Let me know if you have 0 Malware, because I highly doubt it.

I'm having exactly the same problem.
Win7
Nod32
Nokia 6710

I have the same stats, but everything works...

Could it be that your phone doesn't support that software? (Even though I know it works with all nokia..)

Or some setting on your phone?

Hear ye, hear ye. I agree with the above.

Seriously though, this is a documented problem with Nokia software updater and this solution does work, well worked for me and numerous others that have tried it.
