Hi folks,

It is time for me to get my hands on our power consumption in the house and there are two systems for power monitoring that stand out namely the Owl Intuition-e or the Efergy Hub Kit.

I am not sure which one to choose. Any feedback that you have on both systems would be appreciated. I'd like to know about software reliability, stability and updates as well as if these systems are expandable as well as their accuracy.

I noticed that the Owl system - found a YouTube video - can accommodate geyser control as well, but it doesn't seem that we have that option here in SA.

I would rather want 1 system for both monitoring and geyser control to access via an app or online portal.

Let me know

I've been using the Engage Hub kit from Efergy (via Ellies locally) since Saturday, still early days but I'm happy and have found the power hungry appliances very quickly :)

@EchoZA, let us know who it is working out and what the interface and smartphone apps are like in terms of stability, etc.

Must say, I was very put off by these kits when I realized they don't monitor voltage and only monitor the current.

That is really sad considering how much they charge for these.

Any input from owners of these on that?

Check the one I mentioned. But from what I recall its R2500

I've got the Ellies Efergy and it compares 98% to our smart meter readings. Accurate enough for me. Ito software, it is fairly easy to use, and assists to understand usage patterns.

To monitor voltage a voltmeter needs to be connected in parallel to the actual load being tested and under load (ideally), not idle.

To monitor the power consumption you need to know both the current and voltage else how would you derive the power ?
As Gnome says, for the price I want the Power, Current and Voltage displayed :(
Instead it tries to display the total power used in Rands and cents and gets itself so cocked up, it's forgets whether it's Arthur or Martha :(

Hi, struggling to get this registered. Any advice.

For the efergy hub kit.
