I suppose we should thank the Aussies for taking one for the team in helping out the rest of the world.Although their effects on human populations can be devastating, tropical cyclones can also relieve drought conditions.[42] They also carry heat and energy away from the tropics and transport it toward temperate latitudes, which makes them an important part of the global atmospheric circulation mechanism. As a result, tropical cyclones help to maintain equilibrium in the Earth's troposphere.

This radio station is in Innisfail, Cairns. They are running on generator power at the moment and have front row seats.

Edit: Can only handle 400 connections at a time so keep trying.
Edit: It's mostly a music station but every 15 - 30 mins or so the DJ gives updates on conditions.
OMG, Celine Dion playing just as I go to the page. I would rather face the storm

This is not cricket or rugby. My prayers go out for those in destitute situations. I have some friends there and they are in mortal danger.
Were people not given at least two days to get out of the area? I'm not being an arse, just wondering how people could get stuck in the danger zone, with so much warning.
