P2350 vs P2350G

I'm getting my screen end of December (+- a week after christmas)

I've got the latest Rectron pricelist if anyone wants to quizz?

- Reelix

- Edit -

SAMSUNG 2494HS R 1,999 SAMSUNG® 2494HS LCD - 23.6" Wide, 16:9 HD Format, 1920x1080, 5ms Response, 50000:1 Contrast Ratio, 300cd/m² Brightness - D-SUB, DVI, HDMI
Ex vat right?

Another note, Frontosa have the 2494HS as well but they will not budge on their price which is now R500 more pre-VAT. I don't know how that works. :P

Yip, that's JHB it seems. Ag ja, back to calling them tomorrow to see what I can do on pricing. I think I need to speak to the dude there and find out what this nonsense is about regional pricing. I do recall one of Rectron's biggest F-ups was that their CPT office was run by some litey as if it was a separate entity to the rest of the group.

Actually, that price was from the Durban pricelist :)

Since you cannot buy straight from Rectron unless you have an account with them (Not an easy thing to get - Unlike their pricelist ;p), that price is excluding whatever markup your wholesaler decides to sell it to you for :)

Dealer...

Frontosa are very expensive on most items in my opinion.

Hard to say since most of what they sell are unique products (who do you have to compare to?) They do seem to be putting a nice mark-up on Asus boards in comparison to Esquire's new Asus pricing...

So Asus boards and the 2494HS. What else? ;)

Cpu's, vga cards, monitors, motherboards.

I do not buy those items from frontosa ever. Vga card pricing is the worst i have seen only gigabyte may come close.

They do stock some unique products so on those i cannot say if they are expensive or not due to the uniqueness of them :p

CPUs? Often cheaper than Sahara. Cheaper most of the time (if not all) than Rectron, Esquire, Pinnacle.

VGA cards? Their Sapphire cards are priced well. One pays for premium brands. You think Axis charges any less for Asus cards?

Monitors? 90% of their Samsung monitors seem better priced than Rectron.

Mobos? Doubt Axis charges much less. Esquire have a nice special now, but let's see how that changes a little later.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but it beats starting a new one about exactly the same topic, right?

Does anyone know absolutely what the differences between the P2350 and P2350G are?
I cant seem to find P2350G listed by wholesalers anymore, and P2350 is out of stock at the moment.

Someone suggested that the difference between the two models is that the "G" stands for "gloss" - can anyone confirm? I think I'd prefer a gloss finish to the display - why would they discontinue that option?

If anyone knows where I can get hold of a P2350G please give me a shout via PM, thanks..!

What I saw was that shops were still listing the P2350 but in fine print you'd see the actual part number as P2350G. There is some confusion out there. If you read the spec sheet you'll see they mention "glossy" on the P2350G.

I need to call the distributor in a few minutes and I'll see if they have a P2350G. Will let you know.

So you're saying it's two names for the same thing?

Thanks!

I prefer a matt screen, had a gloss one and the glare was irritating
My laptop has the gloss finish, and it seems to give the image more contrast and colour - i like that reflective effect, but I think you've got a point. For a monitor this big, sitting in my room in a fixed position where I cant just move it around to get rid of glare, this could be an issue. I might then just opt for the 2350 as it's cheaper too...

Just out of interest sake if the P2350 and the 2494Hs was the same price which would you buy and why?

2494 is bigger and has an HDMI input although P2350 looks nicer imo and has a 2ms response time compared to the 5ms.

I would go for the P2350 just because I hate the look of the 2494HS
