Hi there,
I have my ADSL line @ home for a week now. Im quite pleased actually. really good performance for online CS:SOURCE.

Regarding P2P, what is the best program. Apparently Kazaa isnt that great anymore. I was recommended to try warez P2P. What works best with DSL, and are there any settings i should know about?

thanks.

What are you trying to download....music....if so why not join a legitimate site and pay a small amount and get as much music as you like, without having to share everything on your harddrive....try allofmp3.com

Im not a huge fan of mp3 downloads. Original CD's has untrimmed tracks (mp3's trim the extremes of bass and treble). I often use P2P for hard to find or unique things.

i went to musica.co.za, they have a purchase mp3 section, but the selection sucks

Try this one

As mentioned in another thread - use something legal such as www.allofmp3.com They have a fine selection of music and according to what I have read, are completely legal. You can determine the quality of your downloads as well. I am using the downloadable explorer on my computer and must admit that I have been spending more than intended after reading about it in this thread http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=16783&highlight=allofmp3.com.

With a P2P network, you are not guaranteed quality and remember the upload bandwidth counts towards your cap as well.

Edit: Sorry Robone, I did only now notice your post also mentions the above url.

Wow, i joined allofmp3, and gave a 5 dollars to try it out. really impressed by quality and selection. And no risks you get with P2P etc... thanks for the info guys.

Anyone know if the allofmp3.com service is legal for South Africans to use? I can't seem to find anything to contradict this?

use torrent, the best torrent client so far is AZUREUS

azureus is k@k imo - it's a real resource hog. Personally, I can't stand Java on windows.

I just use the vanilla bittorrent release.

another eMule fan here ... the best ever P2P prog ... but I guess it all depends on what you'll be using it for. I for one use eMule for almost everything I need ... I use Kazaa Lite for freeware :D .. yeah right... and eBooks and very small stuff like mp3's it's probably good if you are bandwidth conscious. BitTorrent is very very nice but I have'nt used it in a while , let's just say the stuff I need is probably only available in eMule ;). Ihaven't had a reaosn to use anything else like dc++ ...

eMule + Kazaa Lite ... Advantage ... you just run a search
BitTorrent ...Disadv. You got's to know where to source the torrent files ... last time I used BitTorrent there were search facilities being implemented though ... I think .. I stand to be corrected. But BitTorrent is definitely the fastest.
