I use to be able to do both at the same time, but not anymore. If I have DC++ running , then I can't browse at all(getting connection timeouts). It's like the P2P program is chowing all the bandwith , but when I check I only have one or 2 downloads coming down at a max of 5KB/sec each .Am I'm being paranoid or something has been changed at the "control tower" ?

just because it has only 2 downloads, it doesnt only have 2 connections open, somewhere in your p2p program it will show the number of active connections. the higher this number the more "sluggish" your browsing may or may not be. it will also have a setting where you can limit this number of connections to say 30 or so in order to ensure you can still connect your browser also

As I said, I can see the download speeds on the files coming through (as well as the active connections). This is also confirmed by MySignal's Approx Speed reading. It doesn't make sense that I can't browse just because only two files are taking up 10KB/sec of my bandwidth.MySignal confirms that the max I'm using is indeed 10KB/sec

I'm also having issues with p2p... i think Sentech may have put a limit on the p2p programs

no ejbengine, it seems to be a growning trend internationally amongst service providers.. you can try out a socks to http program (totalrc.net)... that might help

Guys... it's SENTECH MYWIRELESS. It doesn't even work AT ALL half the time... I download torrents at 3KB/s, so please be happy with your 10KB/s.

I'm assuming you're on the 256k package - in reality, you're probably getting less than 128k on that connection.

Cancel and switch to another provider, it's the only viable option at this point - see the other posts in this forum.

Yes I'm on the 256k package and I've just hit the 12 months mark of the contract. Will they accept a cancellation?

Are you on a "classic" (soft-capped/uncapped) package?

If so, they'll try move you to flexi. If you refuse they'll only be too happy to let you cancel - but it may not be in your best interests.

It depends on whether you need reliability or the ability to download a lot. They can't technically force you to change to a flexi (capped) service...

To be quite honest they're not worth the hassle. Call and cancel, and be hardass about not paying cancellation fees.

I'm on the classic soft-capped/uncaped package.

I'm totally confused about this. The reason I chose Sentech in the first place was due to the fact that I knew I would want NOT to worry about download limitations ,even though I knew I wouldn't have the fastest connections around.
Now what?Ask them to cancel and move to ADSL?I paid R2100 to get an extra antenna installed because I just missed Sentech's covered area by 2km and I've been paying Nowire 799/mon for this. What they want us to do?
This is such k a k!

well. if it helps, i have 2 satalite dishes, one for dstv and the other for sentech becasue i also fell short of sentechs coverage... so you're not alone.

You guys should really lay some kind of claim against Sentech. If you're not on month-to-month contracts and you've already spent that much, you may as well stick your contracts out.

The network is bound to get faster if there's only 2 people on it... well, hopefully.
