How many of you use P2P programs and is it against the AUP of Sentech to use them. I mean with the "If you hog the bandwidth we'll put on a bigger bandwidth".

Will they at least warn you before doing something like that?

I bought the patch antenna from Broadband in Village walk today. So far not a huge improvement(22% -> 31%), but I havn't been able to fine tune it yet, waiting for somebody to help me (shout signal strength while I'm on the roof).

Check the pings you get from FPS games with your signal above 30% please?

I rarely use P2P programs, but excessive downloading may get you into hot water. They said something like 3 gig a day or 1 gig (couldn't remember) is a rough guideline. Thats why I have the 512k package, I download as much as I want when I want without worrying if they're going to "bump me up" but, then I don't always download, I think in the last 16 days of april I haven't even gone above the 5 gig mark.

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

I'm sure they will warn you. Its just a nice request.. I dont think they have done this yet or even will do it.

If you keep to 2GB a day you should be fine. So if you have 128k dont even worry about it!

Probably to Telkom....[:p]
remember the phrase that our cost are our cost "due to the high cost of international bandwith"[:(!]

With a 128k you've definately no problem exceeding bandwidth limits if it's 1gig a day - the absolute maximum you could get in a perfect world would be 1.3824 gig. In reality, if you d/l'd 24/7 you'd just about get 1gig.

I did a 2gig d/l of mandrake 10 community via bittorrent and it took about 70 hours total of stopping and starting etc.
On bittorrent I set the max upload rate to 2k per second and get an average d/l rate of 10k per second.

me thinks sentech not too worried bout how much you download, coz when you get your new modem you will download 24/7 for the first 2 weeks .... and then get bored and then only download and surf when required which will not be more than your gig a day (exception to the the rule of coz is noone and his porn) well im bored already run out of cool thingies i dont have. so im just doing my mail now and following the motogp of course!!!!!

I dont think they will be to strict on the Bandwith usage as this is there comeptitive edge agaisnt Telkom.

On a second note as more user sign up, it will load balance everyone and I am sure they have got the equipment to set low prioritys on P2P etc.

Keep Surfing

They're also supposed to look at your usage pattern. The majority IS clients are corporates who consume very little off-peak capacity. So nobody can really complain if you use bandwidth that is in anycase worthless to them.

That's what's wrong with the 3 gig cap meganism. At 4 in the morning there a lot of bandwidth is going to waist.
