I am trying to use p2p but I am getting nowhere slowly I have a marconi 4 port router provided from telkom I have done port forwarding disabled my firewall I am using a torrent that has lots of seeds but I am only getting speeds from 0 – 1 kbs I have ADSL 512 can anybody help

BitTorrent is a very flexible (read: sometimes unpredictable) protocol. At times you can have 0 seeds, 1 leech and still download like there's no tomorrow. At other times, it can seem as if the world is your seed (erm, that sounds so wrong) and yet not a single byte.

Perhaps you should check what's your sharing ratio, BT hates people that don't share.

Not that SAns can AFFORD (the b/w) to share... *sigh*

BT has complete albums zipped and such, ed2k has single mp3z

probably a matter of taste I s'pose. :)

no its doesnt search for artist followed by album names

u get backstreet boys incomplete.rar you get everything from edonkey

well personally I've never dl'ed music on BT (thats what ed2k is for ;) ). Mainly because there is no way in hell my poor dialup (*gasp*) will ever survive swarming for a popular album.
BT OTOH is quite good for large files, like Linux ISOs, etc.

Just my opinion :P

yo still stuck in the dark ages. in england we currently use 54mbps vDSL
thats 5 megabytes a sec and 800kb/s upstream, thats why i choose to use Btorrent.
I hope in the future your sans can get theis technology:)

Er I haven't heard of vDSL being deployed there yet and if it is you can probably only get it in London. Most places in England are still struggling to get 8 Mbit ADSL. Before you ask I know this from first hand accounts from friends and family ;)

ye sounds fishy, havnt heard of 54mbit vDSL in England. You sure your not on crack and actually living in sweden or china?

You sure you aren't just using a 54mbps wireless router (802.11g)?

Which ISP are you with?
