So this is my dilemma, i just ordered a semi-monster pc from landmark pc.
quick run down on components in it.

4 x Zalman ZM-F3 120mm Quiet Fan
1 x BIOSTAR TPower I45 LGA 775 Intel P45 Motherboard
2 x GeCube 4850 512MB ATI 4850 GPU
1 x Intel Core2 Quadro Q6600 - Quad Core 2.4GHz Box Cpu
1 x Microsoft Dsp Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit
1 x Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse with Interchangeable Grips
1 x Corsair TX650W 80PLUS Certified for Energy Saving 650W
1 x Coolermaster Centurion CM590
1 x OCZ Flex 2GB (2 X 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1200
1 x Microsoft Keyboard 500 Black Dsp
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 st3250620/410as 250GB 16MB Cache S-ATA

system is around 16k, anyway i never did enough research on the mobo and thought its running x2 slots in pci exp x16 and only after doing some research saw that all P45 when you CF runs x2 pci exp x8. i know there is only a 10% drop in fps but thats 10% i wanted :(

i basically had to fork out another R1400 to get one of the Asus boards running lower DDR2 speed at 1066MHz and same FSB speed at 1600.

So my board is running DDR2 at 1200MHz and 1600 FSB and 4850s in CF but at X8 PCI X. Am i sitting with a BIG situation or just a little one :(

dude its minor to say the least, I doubt it even makes much difference.

They would not release a crossfire mobo that slowed your cards down significantly.

A friend of mine has the asus p5q deluxe which is same as your board just asus make it and he is getting 21k in 3dmark with 2 3850's and a q6600 @ 3.6ghz so he told me it makes next to no difference at all.

my board has the fastest FSB of all P45 so i guess thats ok :/

Yep that system is completely ruined now... bye bye high fps... :D

Seriously though, I doubt if you'll really see real world difference...

There is a difference and a sizeable one at that when you're dealing with 1680x1050 and higher with 4XAA or so, but anything less you won't notice it.
What I can tell you is that I am using 4870s in CFX on a P45 board a good ddr3 version at that (the best as far as I'm concerned, I see the I45 FSb record but it's meaningless because to get 3d stable you lose more than 100MHz on that board)
I recently installed the 4870X2 and whoa it's more than 3K points higher in 3DMark03 but the real kicker is that when I used the two seperate 4870s they were clocked at 840MHZ, 1200MHz memory each and the CPU was above 5.2GHz
With the 4870X2 and only because it has a full 16X PCI-e 2.0 slot available I managed to beat that at only 4.4Ghz using ddr2

Crossfire on P45 isn't such a good idea, but I dont' think you should fork out for another board because of it all. The Biostar is good, keep it ;)

Its a very good board it won't dissapoint you at all ;)
