And all sorted at about 20:00. Which suggests throttling/congestion was the problem here... [spit]

This can be closed. Think I might have been to blame my side as well! All cruising at steady 3,5mb speeds now. Thanks TI!

Not to necro the thread, but I'm curious - are you still cruising along nicely, or are you having issues now and then?
Got some major congestion on the Wellington exchange here, although TelkomZA did mention they are busy working on a broken fibre path in the area while also upgrading the exchanges.

Slow-downs here and there, always in the evenings (presumably due to congestion) have been the exception, not the rule, over several months so far.

By and large been very happy. When all is as it should be - speeds very consistent, with low ping.

Hope that helps. Good luck your side!

[Edit:] At the risk of having a conversation with myself - Speedtest.net results this morning, have just seen new highs... :D

Don't want to get too excited - but Downloads topping out at just under 5mbps - which is about 1mbps higher than usual. I've always consistently been around 3,45mbps - so if this is as a result of the recent upgrades, then I'm smiling...

4mb uncapped package.

Awesome, glad to hear!
And thanks - hope it's sooner rather than later, evening congestion is insane.

Here in Swellendam WC my pings & speeds have been pretty poor. I have a 2Mbps connection with Telkom as the ISP. I've been doing speedtests over the past few days, which are pretty poor.

Below images show the problem .. now to find the solution  The latency @ 660ms is the worst I have ever seen it
