Hi,

Is there a way to determine which modulation I'm actually running at using this modem?

Thanks

Under modulation type.

Bottom left management > troubleshoot > line stats. Look for modulation type.

Ah thanks !

Didn't know where I could find the stats - I'll check tonight

I have pretty much the same screenshot (Modulation type G.992.5-A).

ADSL2+?

EDIT : Judging on stats, it is. Twitter has ignored my request (they used to be so good!) so tried the MyBB guy

Your SNR will go up by 20+ once they change you to VDSL.

... if they change :/

Seems their online guys don't reply and I don't have hours to sit on the line with the call centre. May just stick with what I have because it works

Is your line with Telkom or your ISP?

Telkom.

Usually online (MyBB or Twitter) was excellent at getting things done

I never see anyone mention this but Telkom has live chat:

Chat to an Agent

Just scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see "Chat to an Agent" fill out all the details and off you go, that's how I got mine sorted a month or two ago.

OMW - thanks !

Will give this a go!

Getting closer ...

Sorry to derail but through I would ask the question.

Once you go VDSL can you simply still plug a DSL modem in and it works (but at the lower sync rate) or is it a question of once VDSL you absolutely must run a VDSL modem?

I only ask this as mine has been changed apparently, but it's still running at home without having disconnected.

It works at the lower sync - generally the models are ADSL/VDSL so it'll recognize both.

My ADSL is quicker with this VDSL model though - but I think that is because my old modem was the cheapest I could find. I reckon it handles noise etc better

Okay cool.

Yeah I have the DSL (Only) Router connected at present and will plug the VDSL one in tonight.

It's a different type of modulation, the ADSL router should not sync if it's on VDSL.
VDSL routers, like the pace router, do automatically sync at whatever modulation is set by the exchange, they're backwards compatible.
