Pace 921VNX Connection-specific DNS suffix

If I am not mistaken the Orange light means that you have VSDL connection, I have mine running at home and it when from GREEN when on ADSL2+ to Orange when my profile went to VDSL profile

I find that the Zyxel is very stable have had no issues with it

very happy was easy to set up and get my DNS and Static routing set up with in 15 mins and have been streaming with out any issues.

Interesting, thanks!

Just assumed the orange light indicated a problem with my line as the pace router was showing my Internet status as "Not Connected" even though the internet was working just fine. I had some Telkom techies come fix a fault on my line (outside my property), and thereafter the Pace router shows that I am indeed connected (went from red to green). By that time, I no longer had the ZyXEL to test, so I just assumed that was the reason for the orange light.

I am most happy to hear that setting up the DNS and static routes are easy to setup on the ZyXEL.. This Pace router is solid as a rock, but don't even think about trying to change some pretty basic settings! It should be marketed as a "plug and play" VDSL router, and nothing more.

That is why I had my pace for one day. Tried to do what you wanted to do and then decided to go and find an alternative. Friend has a vox account and recommended the zyxel. Never have looked back.

Have you setup a chromecast on it? If so, how did you setup the static routes/port forwarding?

I went and bought another ZyXEL but can't seem to get it to work..

Just one trick I learned make it go to an ip address that you know you wont get a response from . On Unotelly they say the same as your gateway but that did not work for me so I put it in to a local ip address.

Hope this helps

Brilliant! Will give it a try this evening.. Is that all that needed to be done (apart from changing the static DNS settings)? No port forwarding on udp 53?

Thanks for the help.

Nope

as you said

All you need to do is the DNS and then add the static routing for those Ip ranges and that go me running for Netflix and Hulu+.
find sometimes you might have to restart the router to get the setting working.

but no port forwarding.

PM me if you get stuck tonight might be around to help. just going out for dinner but wont be late as have a kid.

Cheers

Oh and make sure you use the default profile not ADSL or VSDL when setting up the static route

that caught me.

Mate, you're an absolute legend! I just copied yours (using Unotelly's DNS instead) and it worked no problem!

The reason I struggled at first was that I did exactly as you had, and listened to those online setup guides. I had put my gateway as that of my router, rather than just some random, unassigned, local ip address..

Thanks again for all the help, it's much appreciated!

Can someone please direct me to the latest firmware?
