Pace Router Dropping Connection Continually

I have a 20MB VDSL line and a Telkom Pace router.

The issue that I'm experiencing is that the router seems to drop the connection from time to time. If I am using the computer there isn't any problem, but I think what is happening is that if I leave it idle, the connection "dies" and then doesn't reactivate unless I reboot the router.

Can I do anything to regularly "ping" something, or something like that to try to keep the connection alive?

Exactly what I had. Never found a solution.

The ' time to time' when I was not at the house was every 3-10 minutes.

Did you end up buying a different router or just living with the issue?

Had the same issue with the pace. Ended up replacing it with a netgear

I had an old Trendnet lying around that I used instead ; no issues. Pace is in the cupboard - hoping firmware at some stage

Hi,

I have found that updating the firmware made a big difference,

It is quite stable now, with just the 1 re-sync a day normally from the exchange.
