Hi

I'm starting to wonder what % of people have fibre lines with packet loss but are not aware of it.

A small % loss can have a big impact on your international download speeds.

Can your line do an 80% UDP iPerf test without packet loss?

Test from NAP JHB iPerf server: (adjust -b to 80% of line speed)
iperf3 -4 -V -t 20 -O 3 -u -b 800M -R -c 196.10.98.214

(or use server closer to you)

[update] - tests look a lot better than I expected, please also post FNO - Vuma AE / Frogfoot / Openserve etc

Stupid question, how does one perform the test pls?
Hi,

Not sure it's 'Stupid'

The command to run was in the original post, a few people sent results.

You need to have iperf3 installed, usually on a laptop, which you connect to your router or ONT / CPE.

Done. Woe is me.

I knew it was too good to be true. @Frogfoot Fibre - Seriously?

I think last time it was a faulty sfp or sfp+ module if I recall and no its not my ISP as WAN2 below is Openserve with the same ISP testing to the same locations, no losses there. Latency on Openserve remains steady @ 1.8 ms to the ISP router / gateway / LNS. Frogtoot 80+ ms from Milnerton to Teraco.
