Hi everyone,

I'm the only one working on a Mac surrounded by a PC environment and heavily use Word but I'm starting to get tired of it. I think I'm ready to switch to iWork

I'm wondering if anybody has experimented working with Pages - including heavy use of revision marks, paragraphs numbering and so on - while exchanging and commenting files with Office users ?

They are both equally as good. However, if you have used Word a lot before, then it might not be worth bothering with the learning curve of a different wp software. They accomplish the same thing but are very different.

I still use Word because I have an Office 360 account and can use Word on my Mac, PC, iPad and seamlessly access docs across these platforms.

Recently (since I've updated to Mavericks and then Yosemite), I get a lot of crash on Office which is also incredibly slow which is really annoying so this is why I'm considering giving a try to Pages.

If you're in an office environment, pages is pretty much uselessness. It doesn't render documents 100%. Fine for reading but not a solution if you're gonna create documents that will be read by office users (if formatting is important to you). That being said, office for osx sucks. I run office 2013 in a vm. Text editing between osx and windows is hit and miss.

Pages does see track changes and comments, and you can reject/accept them etc. It's not intended to be the same grade as MS Word, which is pretty widely used. But it does have a far nicer interface and will 90% of what Word does, and remain (almost entirely) compatible between the two platforms/apps.

Although I do have Word, I open all my Word documents in Pages instead. Works fine for me ...

My wife works in the publishing industry, and at that level she has to use Word (but still on a Mac).

No harm in trying it ...

Thanks !

I'm going to give it a try, in the worst case I'll use Word only to track changes.

Does Pages have a general formt export which retains most of the functionality.. this for export/import to other things like Word/Office also does Google import support it?

Curious as i'm also moving over to iWork

I like Word for office use. That said, I use Pages at home and really like it, too. They're both great. Google docs makes it pretty easy to share docs these days no matter what program you use.
