I was under the impression that it was impossible to transfer a character from one account to another even if you paid the $25 that you pay to move a character from one server to another.

Why then while I was looking at the in game help documents is there an entry about what to do if someone does a paid character transfer on your character without your permission.

Is there a way to do this as I have one toon on one account and other ones on another account and I want to merge the two.

Both accounts need to belong to the same person, i.e. the name and suraname of the person that registered the accounts need to be the same.

And there is no way to change the name on the account. The one is in my name and the other is in my wife's name.

Just out of interest if I wanted to steal a character I would create an account with the same owner name as the target. Then I would get their logon details and transfer the toon across.

Why I would want to do this is a interesting point because as soon as they noticed the GMs would reverse the transfer. It seems like a strange move because if you had the logon details you could simply sell off all their stuff.
Why would you spend $25 to do something that you could do for free.

You will have to know the person you are stealing from quite well, in the account details the name and surname of the account holder is stared out. In the case of the one account belonging to your wife you prob will get away as you both may have the same surname, and or you can write to blizz support and ask for their help. May need some evedince that you are who you say you are :p

Except for some reason I saw fit to put it in her maiden name but I will give it a shot. It might help that the payment details for both accounts are the same and haven't been changed since the accounts were started.

i successfully moved a lvl 70 mage from my wifes account to mine. Took all of 15 minutes. She stopped playing. However, it wasn't in her maiden name, but the first names and all other details where different, so it should have been obvious to Blizzard that it wasnt my account. You will probably need to prove that it is your wifes account, somehow.
