I am struggling to get a paid up letter for my jet account which was settled in 2014 after getting a settlement discount from dept collection agency Munik Basson Dagama Inc. I was later called by Nimble collection services or Norman Bisset and associate requesting that I pay the account. I lost my proof of payment. I had long and many communications with EDCON via different departments, at the end they refered me to Munic Basson Dagam who responded by saying they don't issue paid up letter on behalf of Edcon. I was refered to Edcon who refared me back to Munik Basson Dagama INC..

banks cannot assist me because they request a paid up letter. I am also tired of been sent from pillar to post, Can I be advised, Who is suppose to do what in this case. and what must I do because my life is stuck, and therefore affecting family planning.

Frustrated.

2014 you say? Was that the last payment you made?

If its been more than 3 years since your last payment and no one has contacted with regard to it, claim prescription.

Are you blacklisted? If not, happily ignore the debt collectors.

MBD sends me back to edcon

I'm asking which department you're speaking to. If you're speaking to the collections call centre you won't get any joy. Phone MBD and ask for the customer care call centre

Beware of prescribed debt

UPDATE: Please note that the newest amendments to the credit act, makes it unlawful for anyone to try and collect on prescribed debt. This will be all debt that was incurred after the amendments to the act. If debt collectors try to collect on debt from many years ago before the newest amendments, you can still claim prescription as a defense.

It's only prescribed if he's not acknowledged the debt in the 3 year period. Acknowledgement can be pretty broad - could arguably call disputing the current balance as acknowledging that there might be a balance. Rather sort it out than rely on this.

I'm having a problem with my settlement letter from jet and it's more than 10 years paid up the account
