Trying to help a friend pair her Blackberry with her 1 series. I am normally really good at these technical things but not familiar with BMW's at all.

How the hell do you do it? I assume it actually has BT as it has the phone controls on the steering wheel but I can't seem to find how to get into the menu of the car. I am not sure if models make a difference, but its a 2011 1 series 320i I think.

You should be able to get into pairing mode by pushing the "Lift phone" button.
Go through the steps, recording the name and putting in the code, then on the Blackberry, make sure you tick "do not ask me again" before you allow it to pair, otherwise it needs to ask you every time you switch the car on.

I actually just tried that after watching a you tube video on the 3 series setup. But nothing happens when I hold the phone button. I am starting to wonder if it even has bluetooth.

Did your friend take the Bluetooth as an extra? It costs like R3k so she would know.
The buttons come standard, btw.

She is not sure, you know women.

I suspect her car doesn't even have BT, I didn't know the steering wheels came standard like that. She is taking it to BM on Monday and they can sort it out.

Thanks anyways.

Yup, two words:
OPTIONAL EXTRA

With the price she paid I am surprised it is a OE, bloody madness. And wow was I not impressed with the interior of the car. God how bland boring and honestly feels very plastic.
