PAL or NTSC ????

Hi there, First timer on this post, please help!

I won a WII whilst on holiday. It was on an American Cruise ship if that helps. I have read and heard that american consoles (if it is american) cannot be used in the UK where i live. The thing is i dont know if its a PAL or NTSC version?

Where do i find this out. I'm giving it as a pressie and would like to know what version to buy.

Also any advise on where to buy NTSC games

It should say on the box or manual.

Check the voltage ratings on the box, if it's 110v then it is a US device and a. You'll need a step-up transformer, and b. it will most likely be NTSC.

Most new LCD TV's can handle either NTSC or PAL, but a typical old UK/EU telly will be PAL unfortunately, and there are no real converters.

If you need to buy games from the US, try Tronixweb.com, or play-asia.com.

Thats my experience too. The last set I bought there (over a decade ago) is dual.

Welcome to mybroadband.
If the unit is an American model it is an NTSC model. Check the voltage requirements as well. The USA uses 110V vs 220V in the UK.. you may need a power transformer.

You should be able to buy NTSC games from Amazon.com (not Amazon.co.uk )

Anyway...

Um.... ya, on the box it should tell you. no reason for it not it... and if you giving it as a gift, then I suggest you look at what make of tv that person has. If it is Samsung or Sony or anything that is quite popular and trusted, it should be fine. IF NOT, then the winnings are all yours
