I am not a red meat person, but for some reason, I crave a piece of steak. Maybe I am a werewolf or something.

I bought a few (fairly thin) frying steaks. Keep in mind that, other than lamb chops, sausage or mince, I never do red meat. We eat fish or chicken 80% of the time.

So .... help, please! :o

Tips, tricks for keeping it succulent and tasty by telling me what to do and what to add to it.

Thanks guys.

thin frying steak -

cut it into very thin strips
fry onion in pan
add steak
fry
add cream
put on rolls with lettuce

= awesome steak rolls :D

Marinade!
Agreed on the thin strips on a roll!!!

Slow cook that stuff in a stew if you're desperate - it's usually a really poor quality meat that is bashed to break up the proteins and "try" to tenderise it. If you're going to eat steak, that is not what you want - get a decent cut, and a thick one at that.

The best thing to do with that stuff is to toss it in the bin and go to your local butchery. Alternatively, make a marinade to try to add some flavour to the meat - preferably with sugar to decrease the cooking time (if you're adamant you want "steak") then fry in a griddle plan on a high heat for a minute on either side...

Step 1 - Throw the 'steak' you bought to the dog :)
Step 2 - Go buy a decent steak at Woolworths (aged, thick)
Step 3 - Open steak wrapping and let breath for 20min
Step 4 - Spice Steak with whatever you like
Step 5 - Put a tiny amount of butter in grill pan
Step 6 - Heat till DAMN hot
Step 7 - Throw on steak, turn after 3.5min.
Step 6 - After 2min - put a teaspoon of butter ontop of each steak.
Step 7 - After 1.5min take steak off grill.

Let it cool a little and enjoy :)

Or you could bash them out a little more, stuff them and cook them in a sauce...

Had one of those last night. ~980grams :o

Rubbed with olive oil, black pepper and crushed sea salt.

Seared for just less than 4min a side = medium rare.

:D

Told you I am not a red meat lover, so I wanted the quickest way to satisfy the craving ! Plus I reallly do not like thick cuts of steak ... or chicken or fish for that matter- it just seems gross and too much for one person to eat.

Cut it in half :)

Frying steak is not steak :p

I prefer mine in a condition a vet could salvage.

You ate just about a kilogram of meat?!! Doesn't it make you feel like you carry around a brick in your stomach? :)

Ignore all that other crap, THIS ^^ is how you cook a steak.

A nice side dish is to fry a chopped onion or two in the pan after the steak..

How did you ever survive as a student :D

dude, aren't you going to burn the butter?
animal fat has a really low smoke point.

Yip, you need a touch of oil (EDIT: actually not olive oil) in there to help prevent the butter from burning. And really thick steaks shouldn't be cooked at such a high temperature - it dries out the outside of the meat before the inside even warms up - rather go for a slightly gentler approach...
