My AE700 projector died on me suddenly last night. It started by switching on, the power light went from red to green, fans started and the lamp switch on for a second, then the power light flashed orange and everything powered down. It was completely unresponsive after that. After a while I could switch it on again, but with the same results, later attempts had the same result, with the power staying on for a maximum of 5 secs once. This morning it's completely dead. From what I can find online it seems to be the power supply - most likely something called the P module. I can get one from Australia (waiting for quote, but at least R1,600), but would naturally prefer to buy one locally. At the same time there is the risk that it's a different problem. So finally to the question: does anyone know of a reputable service center or where I can get spares locally, and has anyone had similar problems? Thanks!

hi
ive got a pt ae700 with the same problem. i sent it in to panasonic in ct......the technicians were unable to fix it and i think they sent it to jhb......they concluded that the logic board had to replaced ... uneconomical to repair if i remember correctly.......ive also got a pt ax100 with a faulty hdmi input.....they've repaired it once but i think the problem recurred ......i havent used it for a while.....
the problem with the 700 iirc is a common one and there has been alot written about it.....
whilst these are excellent projectors .....they are problematic and the backup service is not very good.....
this thread has rekindled my interest in these projectors and ill be checking the responses and may consider repairing the hdmi input......

Yea there is a lot written about the power supply problem, the thing is the symptoms are very varied which makes me a bit hesitant to order the part. At the same time I have very little faith in the repair centers (as your experience proof gopes). I'll try to get a module from Panasonic, else I found one for a fairly reasonable price in Italy, I'll probably take the gamble and get it. I really miss my projector (and I still have a spare lamp for it, so it's got a bit of life left if I can get it going again)
