Anyone have any experience with the newer Panasonic LED TVs?

Saw a 50" Full HD LED at a local store for around just over 7k - picture looked relatively good but it's always difficult to tell under the super bright fluorescent lights. Thought it was a pretty decent price, but thought I would see if anyone wanted to add their 2c before I get it :D

EDIT - sorry, just saw the other thread. Pretty sure that didn't some up in my search.

Take a picture of the screen with your phone right up next to the screen, zoom in and look at the pixles. If you only see red green and blue pixels in the screen, then all is good. If you see red, blue, green and white pixels - forget it.

Also consider that this isnt a UHD TV, and you're going to want one in a couple years...

MyBB did an article on the pixels stuff a little while ago

Found it: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/gadgets/150387-beware-fake-uhd-tvs-in-south-africa-samsung.html

At Govan Mani?

I have a 50" Panasonic plasma I bought about 4 years ago and the picture quality is great. Panasonic made some of the best plasmas around as they hired the engineers who designed the highly regarded Pioneer Kuro plasmas once Pioneer stopped producing plasmas.

I know the early Plasma LED TVs were not very good compared to Samsung and LG but recently the top of the range Plasma LEDs have received excellent reviews.

You need to check the models reviewed here and see if the equivalent models are available locally.

Awesome - thanks for the feedback. Yes it was at Govan Mani.

Will have to go again and take a closer look - was just browsing. Didn't even think to take down the model number. I would assume the panel would have the white sub pixel as it's cheaper to produce, but will need to double check that.

Looking for something around 7k - not too many specials on at the moment unfortunately

There is no such thing as an LED TV.

Let alone a plasma LED? :erm: Granted Panasonic did make the best plasmas. And plasmas are still the best TVs.

Your mentioning of the price struck something funny in me. Too cheap. Google the model number and you will only find South African sites. Zero international reviews etc.

My bet is that this is some crappy TV inside Panasonic housing / behind a Panasonic badge. Basically the same thing as Sharp, I think it is, TVs in SA. As well as, to a greater degree, JVC TVs, which really are crap and have nothing to do with the JVC brand.

Though it's strange how it's listed on the Panasonic website (za section). The JVCs mentioned above are not on the JVC website at all.

I remain doubtful and would stay away. This does not sound like the real McCoy Japanese quality Panasonic.

You're better off sticking with the Koreans, sadly, methinks.
