Over the weekend I managed to catch the rear left door, fender and bumper of my car on the metal housing of the electric gate motor at my complex.

Just took the car to Farber Coach Works (they're one road down from my work) and they want R10 000 to repair it. They're charging R4500 on paint alone.

Does anybody know of some good panel beaters in Cape Town that will be cheaper?

It's a 2002 VW Polo Playa.

You looking for good or cheap?
There is a very large gap between the 2, price wise and quality wise!!!

I have a contact of someone that does a good job on his backyard tho. Had a nasty dent and scratch few years back. Got a quote of R12k from some panel beater, who recommended him as he used to work for them. In the end I paid R3k, looked as good as new.

Looking at the picks, R10k is cheap to fix it.
That part below the door is the most difficult to repair.
Even that dent in the door looks bad :(

^^This - I agree - we work with this type of thing all the time and 10k is not excessive - you have a couple of double panels there and the bumper can be tossed away. I would rather have an expensive good job done than a cheap repair that will always be noticeable.

It will be nice to have a "non-excessive" statement from a person NOT working in automative industry as well. ;)
