I received the following information from Paradigm Solutions:

Hi, Both the smtp.saix.net and smtp.isdsl.net mail servers are hosted locally. You will be able to use either of these with a local only ADSL account. Please let us know if you have further queries. Regards Yusuf

Do you think this is a mistake, or have I managed to locate the 1 in 1000 providers that give access to smtp on local only bandwidth?

sounds like an incompetent support agent, the IS server denies relay access from non-IS ip addresses whilst SAIX does the same for non-SAIX ip addresses. Judging by their http://www.paradigmsolutions.co.za/server/service/adsl_local.asp page, if you have a 500mb, 1gb or 50gb cap, use the smtp.saix.net and if you have a 10gb or 30gb account, use smtp.isdsl.net.

I don't trust Paradigm Solutions.

I had a billing problem with them which lasted for more than two years, they just refused to cancel my hosting with them even though I cancelled way before the 30-day cancellation period.
They kept sending me billing reminders even after they told me repeatedly that they had removed the charge from my account

Yeh, I'm sure I won't be able to access EITHER of them on the same account, but if I go for the 500MB, 1GB or 50GB account (which they claim is SAIX based), will smtp.saix.net work?
Usually, NEITHER smtp works on local accounts. I'm hoping that maybe this is possible with Paradigm? What do you think?

that's not correct. smtp.saix.net will work with any SAIX based account, local or otherwise. same for the IS server. i think your problem lies elsewhere...

MOST ISP (if not all), will not allow you to relay using smtp.saix.net on a local only account..

I use the Axxess local SAIX account, its DOES work with smtp.saix.net I have also confirmed this with SAIX, LOCAL SAIX accounts can use smtp.saix.net and news.saix.net

So wierd, because I am also on the AXXESS local only PREPAID saix account, and smtp.saix.net does NOT work for me. Outlook gives me an error. Is there something I'm missing?
