Hi Guys

Bought a used MG5050 panel with fw: v3.25 installed.

On trying to update the firmware it only made it to writing block 25 of the total blocks and timed out.

I can still connect to it using BabyWare and In-Field but it now display both the Main and RF firmware as "None".

No matter on what machine or what USB port using what settings I try it will only process the first few blocks of data and then time-out.

I am not sure if this could be related to a compatibility issue and that this version of the board has issues with v.4.x and newer FW or if my USB-TTL adaptor does not play well with the MG5050 (It worked fine updating the IP150 and PCS250) or if there is actually an issue with the flash memory on the board itself....

I do not have a USB307 to try and flash it using that and I can not seem to find an old v3.x firmware to see if it may actually work with that.

I am based in CPT so it would be great if someone here with a USB307 can assist?

I think you need to do a few updates - can't jump versions immediately.
I'll see if I have the firmware in my babyware cd's.

(I do, have uploaded here - https://lekkerstuff.co.za/uploads/Paradox )

Also uploaded some other bits n bobs that might be useful. Babyware 5.2.17 Beta.
Some stuff still uploading, if its not there yet, give it 10-15min.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks so much for the link and advice. I ended up taking the panel in to Paradox and they updated it to the latest FW. All working 100% now.

Hi I would like enquire whether the risk of upgrading the firmware on these Paradox 5050 boards are actually worth it? I have been trying to get a list of the changes between versions without any success and this is not like a mobile phone where you know there is often new features or fixes. If the panel works and communicates with all its components why take the risk of upgrading the firmware. I do have the correct cabling and software to do so but even a friend whom does security work on a daily basis said that this is quite a risky upgrade. If it for instance allows for more than 32 zones to be added then it is definitely worth the firmware upgrade but I think that is hardware limited and not software as one example why an upgrade would make sense.

Would it be possible to place your "lekkerstuff" files into a single zip file we can download?

It's up to you. Newer versions of some firmware have actually removed functionality (eg for the IP module).
Other hardware requires newer firmware in some modules.

You can read the change logs and decide what you want to do. In my own use cases, I did need newer firmware on some equipment so it was compatible.

No, I'm not putting stuff into a separate zip, its already nicely categorized, and there aren't that many files. Be happy I stick stuff on there in the first place.

What is the latest firmware version for the IP150+ and the Evo192 panel?
