My alarm was installed today finally. I tried to log in with babyware, but when I select connection type "serial" and then connect. I get a "Failed connection failed".

I'm using a USB to TTL connector as recommended in the other thread.

I have a feeling it has something to do with my com port drivers. But hopefully someone can help me fix this issue.

I've tried installing com port driver but it didnt work unfortunately

No. I'm using a serial connection with a USB to TTL adaptor.

I don't think this is possible, I've never been able to connect via USB to Babyware, always thought it was old firmware. You can however decode and send signals via the USB dongle.

You and @gbyleveldt say it should work. That is the link to the same adaptor that I have

Are you seeing the port number under device manager?

I see COM5 now in device manager and I have set Babyware to COM5

But when I plug the USB in, the device shows under the "other" tab in device manager and not under the Ports tab. Ill get a screenshot of it when Im home this afternoon

I'm talking about getting Paradox Babyware to work via USB dongle. That link is for something else. Try setting the COM port lower and open Putty to see if you are actually getting data.

There's a driver problem with that port hey. Something isn't correctly installed. I used the Paradox USB interface with Babyware, I'm not sure if a no name brand USB/TTL will work with Babyware specifically.

After some googling and installing I managed to get it working.

I had a feeling it was a driver issue. I installed the CP210x windows driver and it instantly picked up.

Posted a new question here, dont want to start a new thread.

Is it possible to program the alarm to make a chime when a door is opened or beam is crossed (regardless if the alarm if armed or not)?
My father had that on his DCS alarm and found it quite handy to know if there is movement in the yard especially if the alarm is off.

Edit: I have the EVO192 panel

I've done this on my magellan 5050. Can't remember how, it was ages ago. Also it can be done differently for different keypads if you have more than one. I used the winload software to program it.

Yup can be done, some family members have it on their alarms. Unsure of usefulness - frikking beeps all day, you just start ignoring it defeating the purpose of it.

I only want 2 doors and 2 sets of beams. Hopefully it doesnt chime too much.

But my beams are hardly crossed and the doors are only opened a handful of times a day

Ok - it's even simpler than that....

From the manual:

A chime-enabled zone will advise you every time it is opened by causing your keypad to beep. Each keypad must be chimed separately.
How do I chime zones?
• For K32+: Press & hold the [ ] key. The Arm1, Arm2, Stay1, and Stay2 LEDs will flash. Enter the zone number corresponding to the zones you want to chime.
The corresponding LED will light up. Press the [ ENTER ] key to exit.
• For K35 and K37: Press & hold the [ ] key (K35) or [ ] key (K37). The word Chime will appear on the screen. Enter the zone number corresponding to the zones you want to chime. The corresponding LED will light up. Press the [ ENTER ] key to exit. Note: K37 will only chime when powered by AC or when the display is active.
• For K10V, K10H and K636: Press & hold the zone key ([1] to [0(10)]). Accept beep = chime on.
• For K32LCD+ and K32LX: Press and hold the [ ] key. Press [1] to select which zone to chime or press [2] to configure chime period. The chime period allows you to specify the time frame in which the zone will chime. Enter the zone number corresponding to the zones you want to chime. Press the [ ENTER ] key to exit.

I got the K641 keypad and its not on your list. I'll try download the manual later when I get a chance
