Unfortunatly tow truck drivers do rate up there with taxis, the main reason been that they get paid per tow( as far as I know) so competition is fierce. There are some who are decent but the rest are a pain in the ass for the police and the public.

I have twice had to break up brawls between drivers from different companies at an accident scene.
 
Hattingh, who has medical training, said when they had arrived on the scene, he had asked a policeman present if anyone was injured. When he pointed to a woman who was standing next to a policeman, he approached to see if he could help, but the policemen became agitated.

With only minutes to spare, no doubt the tow truck driver was desperate to reach the victim clearly hanging on for dear life as she just stood there, much like all critically injured accident victims do these days.

No doubt he was more concerned about what little remained of her life, than about organising a tow ;)
