Paramount+ adds 7 million subscribers in a quarter

Paramount+, the streaming service that ViacomCBS Inc. is using to compete with rivals Netflix and Disney+, ended last year with 32.8 million subscribers, a sign that the media company’s investment in streaming is starting to pay off.

ViacomCBS, which said it’s changing its name to Paramount Global in a separate announcement, broke out Paramount+’s subscriber number for the first time while reporting its results for the final quarter of 2021.

There are too many streaming services, some of them are going to fail. Nobody is going to subscribe to all of these at the same time.

While I agree that some will fail, I think your logic is somewhat flawed. Just because we have multiple cellular operators doesn't mean everyone will have a sim card on each. Month to month makes it easy to choose which one to use for a while before moving on to the next.

After spending mostly time with Netflix and now Amazon prime, then watching some of the "legacy" players's shows again, I realize that they just have better quality shows overall.
Nice 13+ episodes per season.
High production values.
Less wokeness.

Imagine if Netflix did Game of Thrones for example.
Now imagine what The Witcher could have been if it had HBO behind it.

I just wonder if a cheap $10 subscription service can afford shows of that length and quality without showing ads.

Yeah this is more likely to be the end goal...

These services will settle on a rough subscriber base but will have high churn rates as people cycle through the different subscriptions on offer over the year.
