I stumbled onto this video on Youtube, as one does when clicking on the 'related' videos to the right. I've seen many gory videos of decapitations, etc etc, but this kind of thing I find horrifying.

I then wondered, and Google could not give me concise answers, how does something like that feel, pain wise? And what goes through someone's head at that moment when you realize you cannot move? And what does it actually feel like being paralyzed, and by that I mean not being aware of your legs, or arms and legs, depending on the level of paralysis.

Has anyone here been in some sort of accident, or knows someone that has and has spoken to them about this?

Look up [-]Ghost[/-] Phantom limb syndrome.

Mate of mine lost a leg in a bike accident. He can feel his toes itch sometimes. He will be in front of the TV without his prostheses and get up to walk and fall as it feels like his leg is still there.

I don't have anything useful to say regarding living with paralysis, other than, I would not be able to live with paralysis.

Sorry didn't watch the video, but just wanted to let you know that something like a spider bite can cause paralysis. Happened to my husband. He couldn't feel his hands or legs, couldn't even get out of bed. Fortunately it was temporary, but it was damn scary for him. He made all kinds of promises about taking better care of his health, which he promptly forgot as soon as the numbness wore off :twisted:

I, like others, did not and will not watch the video. I will take the opportunity to get on my soap box (high horse?) and moan again about what is accepted on Facebook, YouTube and the like and what is banned. Having not seen this video I cannot comment on it specifically but I have been exposed to stonings, beatings and burnings shared on Facebook (what perceives someone to share things like that is beyond me!) but show a little skin and it's the end of the world. A truly F'd up world.
