Dear proud parents

I’m very curious to know about your experiences, please share :)

If it was planned, how long did it take you and is there anything you did with your partner in order to improve chances?

We’ve been trying for about 5 cycles and still nothing.

I’m 33 and the Doc said we should give it a year… just thought it should be sooner if one has good records of menstrual cycle etc. I've not been to the Gynae BTW.

So every month during the time I think is ovulation we go crazy and month end to my irritation the unwelcome visitors show up:rolleyes:

Relax,

Practice procreation like bunnies, enjoy life.

Use folic acid supplements, if you are not on it before the drs will put you on it for the first few months.

And in a year if nothing go see a specialist gynea that works with infertility.

I know 3 ladies that tried for years, they even had a few failed fertility treatments.

No one is the same as the next person.

As Venomous says, relax, and enjoy all your time together, as stress isn't helpful. Some of the following might not help your stress levels...
Make sure both of you have a diet that is optimal.
Stop smoking, both of you.
Check your weight is correct, probably best for both of you.
Avoid alcohol. There is no safe level of alcohol consumption during pregnancy, and you could be pregnant for a few weeks before you know it.
Don't assume that the issue is with you, the sperm provider is equally important at this stage.

I assume you have had your sperm checked and counted?

You'll have to go to a gynae and make sure you can actually have kids.

Much appreciated Venomous
I agree with your first statement wholeheartedly. But how easy is it to contain yourself after making the most exciting decision in life? :D

Great advice on the folic acid, it was mentioned in a few articles I read but was still unsure.

Thank you, I'm doing pretty well in most of the points you mentioned except the weight one. Six kilo's have to go :X3:

Yup they both need to get checked out.

None of us have been yet, simply because we are both quite healthy and assume it should happen naturally at this stage. But still even though it's early months every time nothing happens one wonders... so I'll just go ahead and make the appointment :)

I have also heard of ladies that were on contraceptives for a long time that struggled to get pregnant straight afterwords. But anyways, a specialist opinion and examination is probably the best.

Yup rather get checked out, husband as well. Sperm count could be an issue.

We tried for about 7 months before my wife fell pregnant eventually. She was 35. Just prior to that, the GP told my wife that he doesn't recommend going for any further tests if you're otherwise healthy until after you've been trying for at least a year because they are expensive and can be invasive depending on what tests are done.

I.t.o. the other stuff - yeah, live as healthy a lifestyle as you can, but I disagree that there's no safe alcohol level. We were advised by multiple professionals that a glass of wine here and there is quite safe, as long as you keep it to that. (Kind of ironic, since we're not drinkers anyway.)

Good luck, OP!
