This groundbreaking "mission to touch the sun" launches in less than two hours.

Anyone else watching the Delta IV Heavy launch this morning?

Update for 4:31 a.m. EDT: Today's launch of NASA's Parker Solar Probe has been scrubbed due to an unspecified anomaly just minutes before launch. NASA and the United Launch Alliance called off the planned 4:28 a.m. EDT launch with less than 2 minutes remaining in the countdown, leaving no time to fix the issue within today's launch window, which closes at 4:38 a.m. EDT (0838 GMT). NASA is expected to try again on Sunday, at 3:33 a.m. EDT (0733 GMT), but we are awaiting a final decision from launch controllers.

Info still scant. It seems helium sensors detected abnormal condition after switch to internal power, halting countdown. Halt at T-4 means a reset to T-12 as the checklist has to be restarted at that point. The launch window closed at 28 past the hour, so at 16 mins past they knew the window would close. Went through power-down sequence and now detanking fuel in S1 and S2. Will try again in 24h.

Once data has been analyzed we'll know more.

Delta IV Heavy is the only rocket powerful enough to launch this vehicle as required, ie slingshot round Venus to the Sun.
