Hi all. Got a R500 parking fine this evening for parking on a sidewalk on a small road off kloof street. Was wondering if emailing [email protected] is a good bet for getting it reduced instead of physically going in to the department? I am a student and can actually not afford such a hefty fine. Thanks

If you write a nice story they normally reduce it, especially if you are a student/minor infraction/no prior fine reductions from that office.

I've always thought you need to actually go in to have it done.
I'd have preferred not waiting in line those times I've done it.

Most times I’ve written a story I never even got an acknowledgement of receipt never mind a response and then the fines just magically disappear.

Never used an email though.

You didn't sign anything...throw it in the bin. Nothing will come from it.

If the fine was written by a cop and put under the op's windscreen wipers, which 99% of parking tickets are, those serve as a fine notification and summons in one, hence if you ignore it you will automatically be in contempt of court once your court date rolls past and an arrest warrant will be issued in your name.

Go and pay at the city hall...- ask for reduction..generally they give you 50% off
