Parklands Cape Town -Very Low Speeds

The past week my 4 Meg line has reduced to

I am 4 k's from exchange and was happy with a downlaod speed of 1.8 Mb for the past two months when I upgraded from 2 Meg line. A new DSLAM has just been installed around the corner but my fault can not be found. Anyone else having issues in the Parklands Tableview area ?

Mine is stable. Getting max line speed. Except in the evenings, then pings go up and tracert shows first hop of 180ms.
Parklands internet is fairly broken, hoping they switch on the shiny net net soon.
 
What ISP are you using? I have found that my WA is extremely slow. Cannot even complete a speedtest where as my FNB is stable and I get normal speeds.
 
Isn't that DSLAM actually a MSAN? I know they have been rolling them out here by me (on Blaauwberg road near Bayside mall) for a while now. There are 3 installed within 1km from my flat. To my knowledge though none of these are actually online yet and will only be in September.

If this is a MSAN, then you may just want to wait it out.

Since my last post, I chatted to the guys working on a cabinet just around the corner and he told me it was indeed a MSAN - what does that stand for ? A telkom technician has just left here after checking my line with no improvment to my speed :mad:- I was told by two Telkom guys our MSAN should be online in June :)

Multi-Service Access Node. These are able to provide different types of access, e.g. ADSL, VDSL, fttx, etc from one unit. I was also told the MSANs would be online in June but was also told that I would only be able to apply for the service in September. With Telkom you never do know however, they might decide to attach rocket engines to them and send them into low orbit.
 
Yep - same here for Tableview between Jansens and Wood drive (wine district).

I used to get 8.5Mbs max and 2 weeks (19 April) ago the line dropped to around 1Mbps and phone went dead. Once up again after techs worked on the box at the end of the street; the max speed is 6.5Mbps down and 0.55Mbps up. Ping around 50ms in quiet times.

Says the cable is too old and the wrong type but I was first told by someone else I was too far (1.2km) from the exchange. The DSLAM I connect to, used to report 10Mbs max and that is down to 8Mbps on test.

Attenuation and SNR figures are poor.

Spoke to a tech working on an MSAN in Parklands and things there should go live by end June. I see no new MSAN anywhere near me.

Anyone know where and who to contact on findng out Telkom's conversion schedule?
 
Internet in Table View is killing me this morning. Been up and down since 9am this morning. Anybody else having issues? I'm on a 021-556 number.
