I just got the go ahead on my new PC and I was looking into buying one or two parts from America (got a friend coming over).

Just wondering how warranty is handled with parts from america. Would I be required to ship it back to get repaired? Or does this depend on the company (for instance I know Asus has international warranty on their laptops)

Thanks in advance

If you buy from companies like Asus and it has international warranty, Rectron will do the servicing of it. Not too sure about other companies or brands and servicing but I know I purchased an Asus G73JH-A1 for a customer of mine and got it shipped to SA and it's still actively covered by Rectron.

In my experience I'd say HDD's fail the most then motherboards, then graphics cards then CPU and RAM..
So what is the price difference? Is it big enough to warrant the import, or is it an item not available in SA? Taking into account international shipping if needed to return the product, or if it has international warranty... You should be able to make an informed decision quite easily..

It would prolly just be the graphics card: ATI 5970

and the price difference is quite substantial.
Newegg: R4 133
ZapsOnline: R6,770

So financially its defiantly worth it, but still would like to know because of the hassle and time wasted from shipping it there and shipping it back. Mainly I want to know if Asus international warranty covers for Asus parts like it covers for Asus laptops
