Aloha,

Anybody know of a branch within Gauteng that has the shortest lines for Passport applications.

I tried within my area and waitied 3hours and had to leave cos of work commitments.

Thanks.

Never deal with home affairs if you have other commitments in the same day. You need to plan a bit better.

Why don’t you book a bank branch appointment?

Been trying, but you need to go thru the home affairs website first and it's just hanging. Captcha does not accept, it's a POS

book to go to a bank, quickest

when you book the appointment, there is a trick :)
start your booking around 8pm tonight, the website is quieter

on the date picker for the "to" date, dont use the date picker, type in a date about 2 weeks ahead ( 2022-05-28) and then click search :)

Just keep trying, you will get through eventually. I promise it’s still better than going to any home affairs branch.

If you are able to book, and depending on your bank, FNB Merchant Place and ABSA Centurion (I think it's Lifestyle Centre?) have been really quick for me. In and out in maybe 20 minutes every time.

Need to use new online booking system which isn't as good as previous ehomeaffairs
Need your own copies of documents when applying

My kids got their new passports in two weeks via Absa. Pretty much the same time period as it took to get US ones, excluding the additional courier time to get them to PE.

Don't forget - price goes up on Tuesday.

I hear you need to be a customer of the bank you apply to.

Or are we just restricted to making payment using that bank? In which case, can I just ask a friend who is a customer to make payment for me?

Yes - we bank at FNB but they don't have a DHA branch here in PE so we used my MIL's absa account to make/pay for the booking.

Do you guys recall what payment methods are available? EFT for instance? I would check for myself but I don't want to proceed with the submit application button before being certain of the DHA location.

No eft. You pay online however it is a very tricky way, you have to do it on your online banking and only on a PC. You can’t do it from the app. Honestly I can’t remember what the payment method is called, but they give you instructions on how to do it once you have booked.

It is almost like a one time debit order so it doesn’t require your card number, just the account number then you have to log onto the bank site to authorise the payment.
