Hi,

Please share your experiences with recent passport applications at the banks.

I urgently need to make a first issue application and is wondering what is the waiting period to receive them.

Last year, a friend got her's in a week when she applied at Standard bank and a colleague got his in 2 weeks when he applied at Nedbank.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I don't think the time taken has anything to do with the banks. It's Home Affairs from start to finish. All the banks provide is a convenient terminal-point for the HA systems. Luck of the draw, as always.

It is still Home affairs that does the application, they just have offices set up at the specific banks on their website.

It is relatively quick to get your passport from the bank HA departments. Just go online, fill in the application, book your slot, pay and then go for your biometrics. They contact you back to collect the passport from the same bank.

I have had mine done at Nedbank and a colleague of mine got his done at FNB, both of ours took roughly two weeks.

I would say look at about 2-3 weeks for safety sake to get the passport

I used Nedbank in Rivonia Sandton - Also took 2 weeks, but I took 4 to collect it :)

Jip 2 weeks. Best service ever from any government department.
