Passwordstate COMPROMISED

The only person in the world I respect completely on all matters tech, Wendall.

According to YouTube I watched this video when it released but, I have no memory of it, will heed its advice now though. Going for KeePassXC.

Bitwarden is cheaper at just $10 per year. Plus it's OSS as well.

Interesting, it’s a hard sell for me to move though. I’ve been using 1Password for over a year, before I used to rely on Keychain (Apple Guy).

Not that I’ll use Bitwarden, how’s the experience from an end user perspective ? I tested out the enterprise plan not too long ago. In all honesty there’s not much difference between these password managers, they are like banks, choose one and stick with it.

KeePassXC up and running, instead of having a local database I placed it in my Google Drive, this allows the database to be accessed by all my devices, there is no need for multiple copies and its always up to date.

Android integration with autofill running, note this is through an app called KeePass2Android, its the recommended Android App, it references the database in Drive, works great so far.

Browser extension works too, there isn't an official extension for Opera but I can use Chrome extensions so no worries. It seems to only work if KeePass is open which is annoying, but I'm sure I can set the app to run in the background, will have a look later.

Edit: Export LastPass database to csv via the extension, import in KeePass, sort the columns, job done.

This sounds like Donald Trump calling Twitter boring, lol. Sour grapes much?
What the hell are you on about!?

LastPass is kark, especially the Android app. They promised there was a big update coming that would sort all the issues which they acknowledged were there but many months later and the update has still not arrived.

The loss of cross platform use on LastPass free tier was what pushed me to finally move and BitWarden is like a breath of fresh air and it's open source and free.

The import of the password database from LastPass was also hassle free, that was really what was previously holding me back, the last time I moved between Password platforms it was a nightmare sorting all the password fields out.

Lol bro, you just sound a bit OTT, but I'm excited you're excited. I can't remember the last time I've described a piece of software as "a breath of fresh air", but you've got me curious ... I'm gonna check BitWarden out.

I still don't know what your original post was all about, LastPass is sht and now you have to pay for cross platform use, BitWarden is eons ahead and free. Not much else to say about it.

I left LastPass because of their analytics or "tracker" code that was sending data to the company. I do not want my password manager sending out any information.

Using 1Password currently but might try bidwarden later.
Info or linky to this ?

For sure just don't trust myself enough to self host and keep everything updated.

Easy enough to do if it’s all running in dockers.

But yeah if it’s a manual setup provably not great.

I was surprised you get all the paid for features self hosting.

Only reason I’ve moved to hosted is because of 5G and CNAT.

Thanks. A bit disconcerting as I have been a paying customer of LastPass families for over 6 years.

FWIW, I normally disable such things when I see it, but had to double check to see if I enabled it. Following these instruction the article:
Account Settings > Show Advanced Settings > Privacy

I couldn't find Privacy options in either my android app or web browser extension but when logging directly into the account, found it under account settings and ticked.

Needlessly hidden.

Time to look at others managers I guess for my family. We of course use our family account extensively and have over 800 items in there.
