I have successfully upgraded two laptops to Windows 8 and am now planning to upgrade the admin PC. I have searched the Pastel website but could not find any information about Pastel software Windows 8 compatibility. Could anyone please provide me with the following information?:

  1. Will Pastel Xpress version 11 install and run properly on Windows 8?
  2. Will Pastel Xpress still remain installed after a Windows 7 based PC is upgraded to Windows 8? The upgrade assistant removes all software it deems to not be compatible with Windows 8.
  3. If I need to re-install Pastel Xpress on Windows 8, what procedure must I follow? I recall that a client had to renew their support contract in order to reinstall Pastel after their PC was replaced
The information for Pastel Xpress on the Windows 8 Compatibility Center has not been updated, would've been helpful if Pastel acted proactively before the release of Windows 8.

As long as you're going to run Win 8 32 bit, you should be fine. Pastel doesn't run on 64 bit, yet - I have it running in VirtualBox for a client on an XP client because they have Win 7 Ultimate x64.

You will have re-register with Pastel if the Pastel software detects a change, but you shouldn't have to renew the support just to get your activation code. Payroll is another issue. You have to have your subscription paid up.

Thanks @FlatspinZA, Pastel support also confirmed that it runs fine on Windows 8. Question remains if the upgrade assistant will leave it intact. It removed Office 2007 on one of the upgrades even though it runs without a problem on Windows 8. I'm about to find out next week ;0)

Hi FlatspinZA, I have recently purchased a new computer with windows 8. Please can you let me know if I Pastel Express 2009 is compatible?

Express 2009 should work, just check your version of pervasive and make sure you install v9 or higher (assuming you have a single user package)
