Yeah - before you laugh...

Client of mine (old guy) wants to skype his kids in Oz on dialup... I tell him "No way - apply for dsl". Monday he goes into telkom shop, fills in forms, walks out with modem and carries on to pick 'n' pay. While shopping, he gets a call from telkom : "Your adsl is activated sir" Tuesday morning, I go in, plug in modem, line synchs 1st time, go to verify adsl site, line is verified in under one minute.

So that's 18 hours from walking into telkom shop to surfing happily (and skyping his kids) on a 384 adsl line. After I recovered from the shock myself, I wished him many hours of fun on the internet and went on my way. Amazing.

No doubt about it, Telkom are making efforts to improve their customer service quality. But you have to ask the question: what would it be like if they were still wholly the monopoly, and there was zero competition, as before?...

Agreed, If there was no competition it would take the normal 30days for it , So the true hero of this story is Neotel Vivvva!

Yep, many of us don't even have neotel coverage (YET is the key word), but that doesnt stop them from being the catalyst in getting Telkom to respond to us a little quicker than normal =)
