Patch 1.41 - "Cannot Load CD"

After installing the above patch (full version) I now get the following error

"CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game"

Before anyone asks, yes I do have the original disk in the DVD and no I don't have any "emulators" running. The game worked fine before the install except for the fact I could not play on any local servers. For that, according to this forum I needed Patch 1.4. I noticed that there was a new version V1.41) so I downloaded that instead.

Now I can't play the damn game at all!!!!

I have been able to find a user who had the same problem with patch 1.2 but regretfully no one replied to help him. (I'm hoping the users on this forum are waaaayy more clued up )

The only "strange" thing that I may have done is I did not install the game into the original "Programe Files" directory. I doubt if this is the problem as the patch seems to have updated the corect directly i.e. c:\games\...

Yes I know I can use a CD hack but I prefer not to.

Any help would be appreciated

I had same problem.

Look on EA's support website's search thing. One of the reasons is progs like NERO and other cd-burning software has things that interfere and cause this problem. Look on the support site and it tells you the solves for a few dfrnt progs.

I had to change a few settings in NERO and Alchohol120%, also had to uninst CloneCD.
Check EA support site.
