patch-4-0-1

That's a pretty sweet UI Tinuva. Is it a downloadable UI pack? If so, what's the name? I used to use LUI, but that hasn't been updated for 4.01 yet.

I used to use TukUI then went to LUI and I'm back with that Tukui edit Tinuva showed. The good news is LUI 3.3 or 3.3 beta should be out within the next few days. 4 will only be here next year. I'll def go back to LUI as soon as there is stable version.

Diegoa you do know our geographical location right? We just get 3rd or 10th helpings to bandwidth I have managed to chat to some of the peeps in my Guild their performance is normal. So the problem as usual seems to be our side.

Nah, problem is with iBurst which I am trying to sort out with them. I tried my Screamer Wimax connection without any problems.

If you not aware by now, in Blizzcon they stated that the expansion will be available for preorder soon via Blizzard Store and you can download before expansion hits. You will be able to play at midnight like everyone else.

I will get a private server up n running in my house, and do 25man raids with a ping of 10ms!!!

10ms in your house? what are you running a 500m network cable?;)

fair enough :p though I imagine in 20years time I'll play wow in full and glorious 3d. strap me in my chair, put something on my head, and transport me to azeroth in technicolour! imagine pulling a mount outta your pocket in 1.5sec :D or world pvp! hell, taking on A'lar, or Raggy, or the entire ZG! now that would be amazing!

World pvp on a LAN??? How many do intend inviting to your house?

Actually, the 3 stage files goes into wow-folder\Updates and make sure you extract them with winrar, which will let you know whether your download was corrupted or not.
I have done this. So when i logged into WoW again it downloaded an update "WoW-3.3.5.12340-x86-Win-enGB-BKGND-downloader.exe". Then it wants to run that downloader exe. Should i let it run or is there something else I should run since I already have the three WoW-3.3.0.10958-4.0.0.12911 stage files ready and waiting in the Updates folder.

[edit] my bad, i took the plunge and let it proceed and it is currently "Checking" the 5.29GB of stage files.
[edit2] Ok, Blizzard Downloader is now stuck on 99% and filling my Updates folder with other stuff such as 'WoW-x.x.x.x-4.0.0.12911-Updater.exe.part' and 'Installer Tome.MPQ.part' and it created a folder called 'WoW-x.x.x.x-4.0.0.12911-Updater.app'.
[edit3]Ok, Blizzard Updater is doing its thing now after the 101mb 'Installer Tome.MPQ.part' patch was downloaded.

Reading all the posts related to patching, what strikes me is that your cap in SA is only affected by international traffic.

This is bizarre. The Internet is a crucial part of International trade now. Cap on international bandwidth is like having cap on international trade these days.

South African IT should be well placed to provide data services to the Western economies. Most UK multinationals outsource overseas now. They have the data centres in the UK but almost all of the development is done offshore. Their call centers are also offshore, while agents access data in UK data centres.

Australians play on US east coast servers. That's across the pacific. People in the middle east are playing on EU servers. They dont have half the grief South Africans have. This is not just gaming. It's economic activity.

Its not just the govt who is to blame here. South African business leaders still don't grasp the importance of the Internet. Politicians don't lead. They just want make sure they get elected. Its the business leaders who have failed to make the case for South Africa to get a share of the so called "digital economy"

I'd like to point out that the department of communications in south africa considers 256k an acceptable minimum as broadband/adsl. and these are the people that tell telkom what to do. heartbreaking stuff

And South African business, including ISP's can't convince them otherwise? The reason the rest of the world sees 2gig as the minimum is because their business leaders have convinced their politicians of the benefits to the economy.

Correction : Dept of Communications has been told by the incumbent that that is the minimum it's prepared to roll out and is economically viable for it to develop in the short term. Our Govt (except SARS) is technically incompetent.

All govt's are technically incompetent. The problem in South Africa is that you also have dimwits in the boardrooms.

OMG! Applied the 5.29GB patches and now still another 7.2GB left to download...
Does the insanity end?
